The Communities in Spain

How would you imagine the dwelling place of God? The Son of God preached the good news of the Kingdom of heaven coming to earth. What would God's Kingdom, the place where His Spirit rules, look like? What would His people be like? It would surely be the most wonderful place where love, joy, peace, and all other good things would dwell...

Despite our own problems and scars from growing up being hurt and hurting others, we desire more than anything else that the Kingdom of heaven would come to earth. We do not have a complicated philosophy or a lifestyle dominated by rules or religious rituals. We don't need them. Our life is simple; we are learning to love and care for each other in a very practical way. Imperfect as we still are, the foundation of our whole life is the forgiveness we need to receive and extend daily to each other.

Our communities in San Sebastián and the valley of Zeberio, could be compared to treasures hidden in the field... Actually, we didn't purposely look for such difficult places to find. We like to be in easily accessible locations, but for the moment, this is what we have and we are very grateful, because truly, both Mount Ulia in San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa) and the Caserío that we temporarily inhabit in Zeberio (Vizcaya), are healthy and beautiful places, where we can lead a peaceable life.
(see for directions below)

Single people, families, children, old and young, share our lives together in unity and harmony; in an atmosphere of order, respect and human warmth. Despite the great activity in the community, the most important for us is that each person may have all his needs met and none would be lonely or alienated... We all use our abilities and giftings to build each other up. We share our good times and bad times. We are growing to be true friends that love at all times and never let each other down. One of our greatest goals is to turn our hearts to our children and raise them up in the ways of our God. We honor the Marriage Covenant and make our living by the sweat of our brow. From our free will we serve one another and all we do, we do it from our hearts, motivated by our desire to do God's will and do good to others. Our example is Yahshua the Messiah!

Each person's interest in our community, is intent on the welfare of his neighbour; this is a source of enormous satifaction. That's why among us nobody is underprivileged, full of complexes or bored! The community that the Son of God came to establish on the earth, according to the pattern described in the book of the Acts of the Apostles, is just the right place for healing and restoration of human relationships and individuals in all aspects of their beings. It is a new Kingdom. A new Social Order where barriers of age, sex, education, status, etc... are broken down.

Of course, in our desire to do things well, we seek what's natural for our food, clothing and building materials, etc. That's why we also work the garden and try to be as self-sufficient as possible, so our days are filled with activity: cooking, sewing, hammer in hand, or baking a delicious wholewheat bread, etc. You might have already tried our bread or might have found us somewhere singing and talking about "The Three Eternal Destinies of Man," for instance...

If you'd like to visit with us, please phone us, and do not think that coming to our house will cost you money or anything like that. Our house is a home, not an institution.

How to get to our house in Paseo de Ulia, 375: You have to drive from the city of San Sebastián up the road of Mount Ulia and get to the parking lot. Instead of passing through the gate of the Park, drive on up the small road on the right of the gate. That road has a Dead End sign. Follow the same driveway until the concrete road ends. Right there, on top of the hilltop, look left and you'll see the small dirt road and our gate. That's it!

Another way is to drive up the steep street at the right of the Arzak Restaurant. Follow the road up until you see the ocean. If you look right, you'll see the Herri Ametza Ikastola and just above the Sidrería Mendiola, but if you look left you'll see our house. Just follow the left road up... you'll be there in a few minutes.

How to get to Caserío Iberburu: You have to enter the valley of Zeberio. Coming from the east, you'll pass the village of Artea. After a few curves in the pine woods and passing several houses, you'll get to the center of Ermitabarri, where there is a big church building and the cemetery. You'll see an old abandoned hermitage with the porch in ruins. There it points to Zeberiogan, Ibarra, and Itxaso. Follow the road at your right and do not turn left the first time (this road leads to Ibarra), but instead take the second small road up to the left. First you'll arrive at a couple of houses facing each other. That's Elorrea. Look left and you'll see Iberburu a few meters up on the left.

If you are coming from Bilbao or Llodio, you'll get to Miraballes and turn to enter the valley of Zeberio. Just follow the road, pass the center of Zeberio and go on to Ermitabarri. As you arrive you'll see the old hermitage. The driveway up to Elorrea and Iberburu is at the right side of the hermitage. If you have any doubts ask at the Taberna Zaharra which is right there.

How to get to Caserío Barraca:
Irún is a town on the French border of about 50,000 people located on the Atlantic Coast, 20 km east of San Sebastián.
To get to our house from San Sebastián take N1 as far as the traffic circle near the hotel Urdanibia (shortly before the downtown section of barrio de Ventas). Change direction in the traffic circle and head toward San Sebastián. Start to drive up the pass (Gaintxurizketa), and about 100 meters before the first big curve to the left (where the junk yard is) there's a concrete driveway on the right. Enter there, and then the first house you see at 100 meters on your right is ours.
WELCOME.

From Irún start to drive up the aforementioned pass (barrio de Ventas, N1 direction San Sebastián), and the rest is the same.

Warm greetings from all of us.
